This position is located in National Center for Toxicological Research, Office of Research, Division of Biochemical Toxicology, Jefferson, AR.

The incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:
Plan, coordinate and conduct studies using techniques and methods focused on elucidating the biochemical mechanisms of action of chemical toxicants and applying this knowledge to assist research scientists conducting physiological and toxicological investigations of products important to the regulatory mission of the FDA.
After being given pertinent instructions and literature, selects methods and procedures appropriate to the situation at hand.
Responsible for the collection of data, performs data reduction calculations, and keeps accurate data records.
Writes reports, prepares tables and graphs, and presents experimental data in a format suitable for publication.
Responsible for procedures that require handling animals, such as administering test agents, obtaining biological samples, and removing tissue for analysis.
Maintain stock and working solutions of chemical and biochemical reagents required to process tissues and biological specimens.
In order to qualify for the Biological Science Laboratory Technician, GS-0404-11, you must meet the following:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS 9 or equivalent band level of responsibility in the Federal service which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skill and ability to perform successfully in this position. Specialized experience includes planning, coordinating and conducting studies using techniques and methods to help define mechanisms by which various chemicals or devices produce or prevent toxicity; collecting and verifying data; and preparing written and/or oral presentations of the results from laboratory experiments.
