19 per hour JOB SUMMARY The Equipment Support Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the routine maintenance, repair, storage, and inventory management of all Animal Care Support Services equipment.
This position is responsible for securing and safeguarding government and company assets at NCTR.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Must have knowledge of and experience in equipment maintenance, inventory, repair and storage.
Demonstrated technical proficiency and have the ability to perform those tasks per Standard Operating Procedures and Study Protocol with minimal direct supervision.
Should have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to understand and follow directions and follow through on instructions.
Good knowledge of both spoken and written English.
Must be a legal resident of the United States.
Essential Functions:
Perform routine surveillance of all equipment in the animal work areas to ensure proper functioning.
Promptly report maintenance problems such as malfunctioning equipment, building structural and environmental, etc.
to the appropriate parties.
Follow up on the status of the reported problems to ensure the most expedient return to functional status.
Prompt initiation of RMRs, Work Orders, etc.
to ensure expedient maintenance and repair of equipment.
Manage the storage facility for Animal Care, Diet Preparation and Bedding equipment, including direct oversight of all movement of materials into and out of the facility, storage of all items in an orderly manner which facilitates their immediate storage of all items in an orderly manner which facilitates their immediate location, and development and maintenance of a meticulous inventory system.
Serves as the contact person for all animal care equipment, storage and inventory, diet preparation storage and inventory concerns.
Provides training to employees on the proper assembly, operation and care of equipment as required.
Ensure equipment related standard operating procedures are accurate, complete and updated promptly.
Maintain adequate inventories of supplies necessary for the efficient operation of the work area.
Assure completion of weekly timekeeping tracking data required by NCTR.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasionally Sitting Often Reaching, Standing, Kneeling, Climbing, Walking, Stooping, Pushing, Pulling, Talking, Hearing, Seeing Lifting/Moving Requirements Minimum of 50 pounds several times a day.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather.
Indoor work is in a laboratory environment and/or in an animal care, barrier facility, surgical or test procedure facility, diet/water prep facility, or animal housing/bedding cleaning and prep areas.
Work may require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in both areas.
Work area may be prone to hot and humid conditions, and subject to objectionable odors, aerosols, dust, animal dander, and noise.
Mandatory use of hearing protection, respiratory protection, protective clothing, gloves and safety footwear as required.
